Get a BMW 335d.
With standard remap you get 333 HP and 666
NM torque.
You can't go wrong with this car.
Makes 100 km/h under 6s, goes 100-200 in 12 -13 s, it handles very gooooooooooooooooooooooooood, it never brakes, if you drive it like you stole you will get a 8L/100km (30mpg) average fuel consumption... I can go on about this car forhours.
I think this is more suitable for an inexperienced young driver, a car that goes like hell, with good fuel ration and doesn't brake.
Almost forgot! It's twin turbo!!!
Now... I think I will get cursed by many many members here

I have a friend who is selling a Tika T3 .270 Carbine. He would probably take under €1k for it with scope and moderator included.
Hold up a Nissan GTR driver and use the remaining €17k on fuel and loose women.
Thanks Bart, looks like I will be spending the day looking at 335d's now as I want a new daily driver and 333bhp and 30mpg whilst flooring it sounds like heaven (especially with all that torque) I can see tyre costs rising quite dramatically if buy one.Comment

that's right!!! Last winter I bought brand new winter tires, destroied the rear ones in 2 months, and when the winter was over the 2nd sent I bought was at half usage
On topic, @Rocco, I forgot to mention that you can get a 335d with many extra options/extras for this money.
Also, at 21, after my opinion, even a 335d is too fast for your friend. You have to have some skills to drive the full 333HP out of that car and not crash.
And I see you're talking about 400-500 hp car for him. That's crazy for a young driver unless he's a professional racer
